Lunch Menu August 2020

***Revised Lunch Provisions 10/8/20***

Lunch Time Primary 1-3 pupils are entitled to free school meals. For the first few weeks this will take the form of a packed lunch which will be delivered to the classrooms by our catering provider, DGFirst. If you would prefer your child to bring a home packed lunch then this is absolutely fine.

Primary 4 – 7 children can select a school lunch or home packed lunch. The cost of a school lunch is £1.90 per day (excluding pupils who are entitled to free school meals).

As no change can be given at this time, please could the exact money be brought to school and preferably paid in advance for the week ahead.

We will be following the D&G School Meals (cold section) found here:

https://dumgal.gov.uk/schoolmenus

Nursery and Primary Menu, week 2:

  • Choice of meat or vegetarian filling (varied each day and only one option on offer each day. For details of fillings see the school menus link below)
  • One choice only each day (sandwich, roll and wrap)
  • Small Salad Pot
  • Milk
  • Fruit Juice
  • Fresh Fruit
  • Flapjack, Brownie or Muffin (varied each day and only one option on offer each day)

Secondary

We have been in touch with local businesses and they are all happy to welcome our pupils back at lunch time. Pupils must remember that when they leave the school building social distancing rules apply and the wearing of face masks is required within shops. Lunches for secondary will cost £2 and there will be a ‘Grab and Go’ selection of hot and cold food on offer. Please could pupils use their Young Scot Card if possible. Message from Mrs Macfarlane 20th April, 2020

Webinar on Wednesday 22nd April, Keeping Kids Safe Online

Dear All,

Following on from our last parent 'Online Safety' session held in September, Moffat Academy and NSPCC Scotland would like to invite you to a webinar about keeping kids safe online. I know many parents wanted an evening session, and as the current situation means we cannot do so at the moment, this is the next best thing. With children spending more time on the internet than ever this webinar will look at what children are doing online, what the risks are and what parents can do to help keep them safe. You will need access to a device with sound. A laptop or large screen tablet would be better if possible in order to read text clearer, but a phone would still be sufficient to hear what is being said. I look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible!

The webinar is booked for:

Date: Wednesday 22nd April

Start time: 18:00

Running time: 30 mins

Registration:

Participants are required to register in advance for the webinar using the following link:

https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/4572387679822477069?fbclid=IwAR2jWF_oPlNOSszmQg5Tsqoyja2YbVHg6_P0QR83bVW4EPRreL9bz6ePksA

Once registered, participants will receive an agenda and details of how to join the webinar.

Thank you, Stay Safe, Mrs Candlish

Extra Supplies

The Town Hall is offering lots of services at the moment- collecting prescriptions from the chemist for people, grocery shopping, Meals on Wheels, etc. They have been donated lots of food; fresh, frozen, tinned, and other items such as nappies.

Parents/carers can phone the Town Hall (01683 221102)and either collect items or have it delivered.

Please get in touch if you would like to make use of this fantastic service or share if you know of anyone else who could use some extra help in these difficult times??

Scottish Health and Wellbeing Improvement Research Network

Resources for schools: Pupils During these times of self-isolation, disrupted routines and social distancing, it is more important than ever to take care of your mental health and wellbeing. There is so much advice out there, which can be overwhelming, so we have put together a few tips and resources to help you by putting everything in one place.

D&G Council update for schools and free school meals on Monday 23rd

“Arrangements for Schools

Closing schools and nursery settings is an important part of our efforts to control the spread of COVID-19.

From Monday 23rd March, what we deliver within our school buildings is changing to support our communities – while pupils and teachers are working in different ways, school buildings will be open to provide childcare (From Primary 1 to S6) for those providing critical services in response to COVID-19.

The Government has asked us to keep the opening of physical settings to the minimum so we are asking you to help usin ensuring those attending are those that truly need it in order to support the local and national response to COVID-19.

We will have all 16 Secondary Schools buildings across our region open from 9am – 3pm to provide childcare (From Primary 1 to S6) to those whose parents absolutely have to go to work to respond to COVID-19 and cannot use one of the providers listed on our website

https://www.dumgal.gov.uk/…/Childcare-Information-for-KEY-W…

A meal service will be available for all children and young people attending. In addition Free School Meals will be provided from all secondary schools from 12.30pm-2pm.

The Scottish Government has designated those who are eligible to access services at our schools. However we are working with local employer stakeholders to ensure that any staff who work in critical businesses in our local communities are included.

We will publish over the next few days a clear list of critical local staff in addition to the current Scottish Government list.

You can see the current national list of who is eligible to access services by visiting: https://www.gov.scot/…/coronavirus---school-and-elc-closur…/

It is important to remember that this is part of the effort to reduce social contact and we would ask you to help us to ensure this service is only used by those who need it.

Young People who are self-isolating or who have underlying medical conditions should not attend.

As you will appreciate this is a really unique situation, it has also affected a number of our Council staff and their families and some of our staff will have the same childcare challenges.

The arrangements being put in place on Monday are temporary until Wednesday to give us time to redeploy our resources in order that we can have a wider service from Thursday including some of our Primary Schools and we ask for your patience as we make these arrangements.

We are committed to ensuring that no child or young person will go hungry. If you need help with food provision you can contact us discreetly by emailing SkillsEducationandLearningCOVID19@dumgal.gov.uk and we will make arrangements to ensure we can provide you with food.

We thank everyone for their support and understanding as we all work together in our communities to support each other.
